Over the past week, information originating from another platform has been circulated and subsequently forwarded to this blog by multiple individuals seeking clarification.

In response to these inquiries, I sought and obtained a statement from Joy A. Collura, the eyewitness hiker survivor of the Yarnell Hill Fire. Her reply is as follows:

I am aware that, over the past week, material originating from another online venue has been recirculated and subsequently forwarded to this blog that I am no longer affiliated with publicly.
The individuals who contacted - did so,
because they believed the information required clarification or contextual correction.
To be unequivocally clear: I am not affiliated with any person(s), website, project, book, film, production, or online discussion.
I have lived privately, quietly, and medically home‑bound for years, and I do not participate in these recurring cycles of commentary.
The recent resurfacing of decade‑old narratives is neither new nor unexpected. This pattern has repeated itself, and each recurrence simply becomes part of a well‑documented evidentiary timeline preserved off‑site for my protection.
I do not engage with these discussions, and I do not respond publicly and very rare, privately.
My silence should not be misinterpreted as agreement, absence, or inability; it is a deliberate boundary grounded in both medical necessity and legal prudence.
I issued a cease‑and‑desist to someone to prevent the unauthorized use of my materials and to ensure that my name, documentation, and lived experience are not incorporated into any sanitized or commercially motivated retelling of the Yarnell Hill Fire.
That boundary remains in effect.
Any statements made after the issuance of that cease-n-desist notice are documented accordingly.
I remain focused on my health, my privacy, and the preservation of the complete historical record—one that extends far beyond the likely selective fragments currently being circulated.
Those who continue to rehash partial or outdated information are simply contributing additional entries to a record that has been meticulously maintained for more than a decade.
I have no further comment on the matter.

From 2013 to 2017,

There is a shift happening — and I feel it in my bones
It’s not subtle.
It’s not quiet.
It’s not accidental.
It’s the kind of shift that builds for years beneath the surface,
invisible to the people who weren’t paying attention,
but unmistakable to the one who lived through it.
For a long time, someone tried to break me.
They sent something my way that they believed would be the final blow; literally/physically —
“the thing that would snuff my light out for good”
They all watched me suffering like it was entertainment, like they had front‑row seats to my destruction. They were certain they had written the ending of my story.
But…
I want to gently share something important.
Over the decade+,
there have been a few occasions
where people have shared my private materials and sensitive information
without my permission
that was shown to them with the understanding it stayed with them.
This has left me in disbelief,
because I do not back-channel sensitive or private things to be re-shared
especially some of the information I have gathered is quite horrific.
When material is shared
without my knowledge,
the person receiving it is not supposed to re-share it further.
But the bigger issue
is when someone says “Joy said…”
or implies I authorized it [the re-share] when they re-share it.
That is simply not true.
It creates a false impression
